DESCRIPTION:Scheduled for August 19\, 2025 at 12:00 pm Eastern\nJOIN HERE \n  \nLandowners make large investments in planting and managing longleaf pine stands; investigations after hurricanes may provide insights into management practices that can decrease probability of timber loss. A team from Tall Timbers Research Station and The Jones at Ichauway measured damage in planted longleaf pine stands and related it to maximum wind speed and stand structure after Hurricane Michael struck north Florida and south Georgia in 2018. \n  \nIn this webinar\, you will: \nHear about the results of these field trials and what the implications may be for managing planted longleaf pine stands for hurricane resilience.\nLearn about wind resistance considerations to include in planted longleaf pine management plans.\nDiscover informative resources to prepare your stand pre- and post-storm. \n  \n  \nPresenters: \n  \nDr. Seth W. Bigelow is a forest ecologist and fire scientist. He investigates the ecology and management of southern pinelands using tools and ideas from ecosystem\, community\, and physiological ecology. He is a research ecologist at Tall Timbers Research\, Inc. in Tallahassee\, Florida \n  \nPaul McDaniel is the Forest Health Coordinator for the Georgia Forestry Commission. He has been also served as a Management Forester and Water Quality Specialist in his career with the Commission. \n
