DESCRIPTION:This is a 1.5 day event:\nThursday August 8\, 2024 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm &\nFriday August 9\, 2024 from 8:30 to 12:00 pm (Field tour) \n  \nLongleaf Foundations is a condensed course from the  Longleaf Academy Program\, designed for those that would like to begin building a solid foundation of longleaf knowledge.  Expert instruction through a combination of classroom lectures\, exercises\, discussions and field tours will jump-start your longleaf education. \n  \nTopics covered: \n\nCultural & natural history\nFire and longleaf\nSite preparation\nSeedling quality\nPlanting techniques\nRestoring groundcover\nManaging for wildlife\nAnd local topics\n\n  \nProfessional credits pending.  \n  \nLodging information:  \nPrivate rooms are available on site.  Rooms have two twin beds\, dresser\, desk\, and private bathroom.  Bed linens and pillows are provided. It is recommended that you bring your own bath towels and all toiletries. \n  \nIndicate lodging preferences in the registration form below. \n  \nInvoicing for lodging and on-site meals\, if available\, will be done closer to the event date.  Rates are expected to be between $40-$60 per night. \n  \n  \nHotel options are 30-45 minutes away in Andalusia and Brewton. \n\n  \nPresented with generous support from the Gulf Coastal Plain Ecosystem Partnership and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. \n

DESCRIPTION:This is a 2-day event:  \nWednesday April 17 2024 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM &\nThursday April 18\, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM \n  \nHerbicides & Longleaf will give participants the tools needed to incorporate herbicides into their own unique longleaf management objectives.  Expert instruction will take place through a combination of classroom lectures\, exercises\, discussions and a field tour. \n  \nHerbicide choices regarding site preparation and herbaceous and woody release will be emphasized\, along with the following topics: \n\n– herbicide rates\n– timing of applications\n– application methods\n– surfactants and adjuvants\n– control of invasive and unwanted species\n– preserving native plants during longleaf restoration\n\n  \nLodging: A room block has been set up at Merry Acres Inn. Please call them directly at 229-435-7721 to reserve a room under the “Longleaf Alliance” group. \n  \nProfessional Credits:\nApproved for 10.5 Cat 1 and 1.5 Cat 2 SAF continuing education credits.\nGA and FL certified pesticide applicator credits are pending. \n  \nPresented with generous support from Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Wade Foundation. \n  \n\nThe Longleaf Alliance cares about the communities where we work. Participants should not attend if exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19\, or other communicable diseases.
