DESCRIPTION:Join The Longleaf Alliance and our partners for an exciting learn & burn workshop\, ideal for landowners and land managers with minimal to no prescribed fire experience.\n  \nAttendees will: \n\n– Participate in a live burn\n– Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade\n– Learn about prescribed burn techniques\, burn plans\, smoke management\, fire weather\, liability laws\, financial resources\, and burn permits\n– Ask questions to experienced professionals\n\n  \nWhat to Expect: \n\n– Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.\n– Participants must expect to be active most of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.\n– Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton\, linen\, silk\, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred.\n– Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves. Don’t forget a bandana\, water bottle\, and sunscreen.\n\n  \nIn the event of rain\, the workshop will be rescheduled on March 6\, 2023.

DESCRIPTION:What is a Learn & Burn?  \n“Learn & Burn” field days provide private landowners and others interested in learning how to prescribed burn with a hands-on opportunity to gain experience and knowledge. \n\nWhen will the event take place? \nThe Learn and Burn will occur between February 7-11\, 2022\, depending on weather conditions. Participants will be given 2 days advance notice before program is held. \n\nWhat to expect \n– Attendees will participate in a live burn \n– Participants are required to sign a waiver on the day of the event. \n– Participants must expect to be active most of the day\, walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools. \n– Participants must wear all natural fiber (cotton\, linen\, wool) or fire-retardant pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. \n– Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.
