DESCRIPTION:Join The Longleaf Alliance and our partners for an exciting learn & burn workshop\, ideal for landowners and land managers with minimal to no prescribed fire experience.\n  \nAttendees will: \n\n– Participate in a live burn\n– Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade\n– Learn about prescribed burn techniques\, burn plans\, smoke management\, fire weather\, liability laws\, financial resources\, and burn permits\n– Ask questions to experienced professionals\n\n  \nWhat to Expect: \n\n– Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.\n– Participants must expect to be active part of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.\n– Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton\, linen\, silk\, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.\n– Participants are encouraged to bring a bandana\, water bottle\, and sunscreen.\n\n  \nIn the event of rain\, the workshop will be rescheduled on March 24\, 2023.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Longleaf Management Field Day at Dixon Memorial State Forest on May 25th from 9AM-12PM.\n  \nThis field day will include discussions and stops to observe site prep considerations\, the effects of prescribed fire\, and forest resource opportunities including pine straw production. If you currently have longleaf on your property or are considering planting it\, this is a great opportunity to learn more. \n  \nTopics will include: \n\n– Site Preparation\n– Wildlife Habitat Management\n– Prescribed Burning\n– Income Streams\n– Cost-Share Programs\n\n  \nHosted in partnership with The Nature Conservancy\, Okefenokee-Osceola Local Implementation\, Georgia Tree Farm\, and Georgia Conservancy.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to bring sunscreen and can expect to be active for part of the field day walking on uneven ground. The backup rain date is May 26th from 9AM-12PM. \n\nSAF continuing education credits are pending.
