SUMMARY:Groundcover Restoration Academy
DESCRIPTION:Groundcover 201 will guide students through the principles and practices of restoring native plant species in longleaf pine systems.  Native groundcover provides numerous benefits in longleaf pine systems\, from wildlife habitat and food sources\, fuel for frequent prescribed fires\, host plants for pollinator species\, nutrient cycling\, and aesthetic benefits. But it can often be degraded\, or absent\, as a result of prior land use practices. \n  \nDuring the course\, students will gain the tools for planning and implementing their own groundcover projects through expert instruction from restoration practitioners\, land managers\, research scientists and producers.
