As The Longleaf Alliance celebrates its 30th anniversary and excitedly plans for another 30 years, it is important to reflect on what has been accomplished across the range and what remains to be done for the South’s great forest.

Longleaf successes are made possible through the efforts of many – landowners, land managers, educators, researchers, and natural resource professionals – through the support of many – individual contributions, financial assistance programs, federal grants, corporate partners, and private foundations.

Without this collaborative approach and the dedication of our supporters and conservation partners, we would not be where we are 30 years after Dean Gjerstad and Rhett Johnson identified the need for an ALLIANCE devoted to longleaf pine ecosystems. Nor would we be able to look forward to a sustainable future for this iconic, resilient forest.
