Don’t miss the exciting opportunity to attend the Prescribed Fire Workshop on June 5, 2024, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at Yuchi Wildlife Management Area. Learn how to harness the benefits of controlled burns, gaining hands-on experience through live burns while discovering essential techniques for use on your own land.
Attendees will:
- – Participate in a live burn
- – Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade
- – Learn about prescribed burn techniques, burn plans, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, financial resources, and burn permits
- – Ask questions to experienced professionals
What to Expect:
- – Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.
- – Participants must expect to be active part of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.
- – Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton, linen, silk, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.
- – Participants are encouraged to bring a bandana, water bottle, and sunscreen.
In the event of rain, the workshop will be rescheduled to June 6th or 7th.
