Join The Longleaf Alliance and our partners for an exciting learn & burn workshop, ideal for landowners and land managers with minimal to no prescribed fire experience.
Attendees will:
- – Participate in a live burn
- – Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade
- – Learn about prescribed burn techniques, burn plans, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, financial resources, and burn permits
- – Ask questions to experienced professionals
What to Expect:
- – Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.
- – Participants must expect to be active part of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.
- – Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton, linen, silk, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.
- – Participants are encouraged to bring a bandana, water bottle, and sunscreen.
In the event of rain, the workshop will be rescheduled from February 23 to March 4, 2022.
This event will follow Georgia Department of Public Health guidelines on COVID-19 precautions. Participants are required to wear a mask during the classroom (indoor) portion of the event. Masks are recommended, but not required, for other parts of the event that are held outdoors.
