July 20, 2023

America’s Longleaf Restoration Initiative is proud to debut the 2022 Range-wide Accomplishment Report celebrating 2.2+ million acres of accomplishments ranging from prescribed fire application to new longleaf plantings to land protection.

In fiscal year 2022, ALRI partners:

- Planted 123,304 acres of new longleaf pine

- Protected 38,796 acres through acquisitions and easements

- Applied prescribed fire to over 1.7 million acres, a record since accomplishment reporting began in 2010.

- Applied silvicultural activities to 10,291 acres to convert existing forestland to longleaf-dominant forests

Longleaf partners reported 54,000 more acres of prescribed fire in 2022 compared to 2021.

“Restoring longleaf pine forests is more important than ever to help mitigate the global climate and biodiversity crisis in our corner of the world,” says Colette DeGarady, 2022 Longleaf Partnership Council Chair.  “Our collective work can help improve habitat for vast numbers of rare and endemic species while also building more resilient corridors for wildlife.”
